Reflection
Our Loved Ones in God’s Hands
2 min read
But the souls of the righteous are in the hand of God, and no torment will touch them. In the eyes of the foolish they seemed to have died. Their departure was considered a disaster, and their travel away from us ruin, but they are in peace.Wisdom 3:1-3
The Book of Wisdom tells us that the souls of the righteous are in God’s hands. There is a deeper truth than what death may seem to be in human eyes: they are at peace in God.
When we remember someone dear to us, the pain of separation can weigh on us. In family difficulties, work pressures, the loneliness of life away from home, or worries about illness and exams, this passage reminds us of God’s care.
During this month of remembrance for the departed, let us remember them with love and pray for their eternal rest. Entrusting our sorrow and hope to God, let us carry out today’s responsibilities with love.
A moment to reflect
- In the pain of separation, do I rely on God’s care?
- What can I do today to treat my family and those around me with love?
Closing prayer
Lord, receive our beloved departed into your hands and grant them eternal rest. Comfort us in the pain of separation and give us the grace to live with hope. Amen.
